Portuguese giants FC Porto have confirmed that manager Sergio Conceicao has signed an extension to his current contract in charge of the Dragons.
The 49-year-old former Portugal international winger was expected to depart the club in the summer of 2027 but a one-year extension means he will now be contracted at the Estadio do Dragao until the end of the 2027/28 season.
Sergio Conceicao has received heavy criticism this season with Porto underperforming in the Primeira Liga as they head into the final four games of the 2023/24 campaign sitting 18 points behind league leaders Sporting CP and clinging onto a top three spot ahead of Braga on goal difference.
However, Porto did put in a couple of impressive performances in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League with Arsenal needing penalties to knock Porto out.
Conceicao has been in charge of the club since 2017 and has won three Portuguese titles in that time with three Taca de Portugal triumphs, one Taca da Liga and three Supertaca Candido de Oliveira trophies, too.
Porto’s 2-1 defeat of Casa Pia at the weekend continued an improved run of form in the last couple of months before they face the aforementioned Sporting at the Dragao on Sunday.
