Everton delivered a commanding performance at Goodison Park, securing a crucial 2-0 win in the Merseyside derby that dealt a blow to Liverpool's hopes of clinching the Premier League title.

The match started with high intensity, with the Toffees appealing for a penalty early on as Dominic Calvert-Lewin was brought down by Alisson Becker. However, VAR ruled it offside, sparing the Reds.

The visitors also had their chances, with Mo Salah's attempt deflected away by Ben Godfrey after a cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold.

However, Everton's threat from set-pieces proved decisive, as Jarrad Branthwaite's strike found its way past Alisson to give the hosts the lead with 27 minutes played.

Despite Liverpool's efforts to level before half-time, Jordan Pickford made several crucial saves to deny them.

In the second half, Everton extended their lead on the hour mark through Calvert-Lewin's header from a corner, leaving Jurgen Klopp's side with a mountain to climb.

From that point onwards, Liverpool seemed lacking confidence, but they came close to level shortly after when Luis Diaz struck the inside of the post.

Liverpool made changes to spark a comeback, but Sean Dyche's men remained strong defensively, with Pickford denying Harvey Elliott and Salah late in the game, securing the win for Everton.

With this result, Liverpool remain in second place, trailing leaders Arsenal by three points with only four matches left, while Manchester City sit one point behind with two games in hand.

This win sends Everton to 16th place, securing an eight-point cushion above the relegation zone with four games remaining.

In the second half, Everton continued to dominate and were rewarded with a second goal from Richarlison in the 83rd minute.

As an Everton fan, I am absolutely thrilled with this performance! We dominated the match and showed Liverpool who's boss. The VAR decision was a bit of a scare, but we didn't let it slow us down. Fantastic goals from Branthwaite and Richarlison secured a well-deserved win.

The second half saw more of the same, with Everton remaining resolute in defense and looking threatening on the counter.

In the 87th minute, Everton sealed the victory with a stunning long-range strike from Gylfi Sigurdsson, leaving Liverpool fans devastated.
