Leeds overcome Sheffield Wed. to move into second

Leeds regained their position in the automatic promotion spots by securing a 2-0 victory against Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. 

Patrick Bamford broke the deadlock just before half-time by converting Junior Firpo's excellent left-wing delivery at the far post. 

Willy Gnonto capitalised on some poor defending from the hosts to confirm the win shortly before the hour mark.

With this result, Daniel Farke's men is now two points behind Championship leaders Leicester. They leapfrogged Ipswich in the table and await the results of promotion rivals, who are set to play on Saturday.

Despite the end of the Owl's four-game winning streak, they sit in 23rd place. However, they are remain in the relegation zone based on goal difference, with nine games left to play.
