League One and League Two will both conclude this weekend with automatic promotion, the two remaining playoff spots and the final place in the relegation zone still to be decided in League One at Saturday lunchtime. In League Two, the final three playoff spots are up for grabs as well as the final relegation spot to be confirmed in the fourth-tier.
The Championship still has a couple of match days to go with everything up in the air at the very top-of-the-table and two of the bottom three spots, too. Tonight saw a few games take place as we head down to a dramatic conclusion up and down the EFL…
Leicester City 5-0 Southampton
With two games of the season to go, Leicester City have moved themselves five points clear of third place Ipswich Town, albeit the Tractor Boys do have a game-in-hand on the Foxes. Enzo Maresca’s side annihilated a Southampton side that have struggled to maintain an automatic promotion challenge at the back end of this season. Abdul Fatawu scored an excellent hat-trick for the potential champions with Wilfred Ndidi and Jamie Vardy also getting on the scoresheet at the King Power Stadium.

Cambridge United 1-1 Wycombe Wanderers
Cheltenham Town 2-0 Peterborough United
Garry Monk took charge of Cambridge United last month and immediately struggled before beginning to turn things around. They begin the final match day still not safe, though, sitting three points above Cheltenham Town who are fourth from bottom with a Cheltenham win and U’s loss on Saturday enough to relegate Cambridge. Cambridge could have survived tonight when Gassan Ahadme but them ahead against Wycombe Wanderers but Luke Leahy’s 83rd minute penalty denied them an extra two points.
They have also been dealt a blow due to Cheltenham Town’s 2-0 defeat of Cambridge’s biggest rivals, Peterborough United, at Whaddon Road. The Robins took advantage of a heavily rotated Posh side and raced into a two-goal lead after 20 minutes via Joe Nuttall and Matty Taylor. They are two points below Burton who face Fleetwood Town in a few days, whilst Cheltenham play Stevenage and Cambridge go to already relegated Port Vale.
Barrow 1-2 Bradford City
Colchester United 1-4 Doncaster Rovers
On the 6th of March, Doncaster Rovers were 20th in League Two after 35 games this season. Grant McCann’s Yorkshiremen, though, have since enjoyed ten successive victories and propelled themselves into the top seven and the playoff places ahead of this midweek. Jayden Fevrier gave Colchester the lead after nine minutes before the visitors turned things around with goals from Luke Molyneux, Harrison Biggins, Tom Anderson and Joe Ironside. That means they sit fifth and three points above eighth in the table ahead of the final day. Colchester, on the other hand, could still go down if they lose on Saturday, Sutton win and there is a four-goal swing.
In a huge game to determine another of the remaining playoff spots, Barrow suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Bradford City. The Cumbrians sit seventh in the table but just a point above Crawley Town and two ahead of the aforementioned Bradford. Bobby Pointon opened the scoring before Kian Spence’s second-half equaliser but then Tyler Smith scored a 90th minute winner for the Bantams to keep them very much in the hunt to reach the playoff semi-finals like they did last season before losing to Carlisle United.
