Gareth Southgate may be focusing his energies on England's bid to win Euro 2024, but speculation continues to swirl regarding the Three Lions manager taking the reins at Manchester United next season.

A Daily Star article on Wednesday reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has scoured candidates to succeed current United boss Erik ten Hag, should the Dutchman depart in the summer, and the INEOS owner is understood to regard Southgate as the ideal man for the job.

With this in mind, Playmaker have put together three persuasive reasons why the Three Lions boss could fit the bill at Old Trafford.

As a dedicated football fan, I am disappointed to hear the speculation about Southgate leaving the England team. He has been an incredible manager and leader for our national team, and it would be a huge loss for us. However, I can also understand why Manchester United would see him as a strong candidate. He has proven his skills as a manager and has a strong track record of developing and nurturing young talent. It would be a tough decision for him, but I wish him all the best in

As a Manchester United fan, I don't want to see Southgate at the helm of my club. Our team needs an experienced and proven manager, not someone who has only achieved success with the national team. Plus, his style of play is not suited to the attacking and dominant football that United are known for.
