Oxford United are in front in their Sky Bet League One play-off semi-final against Peterborough with a narrow 1-0 victory, setting the stage for an intense second leg.
Despite initially weathering Oxford's early dominance, Peterborough found their opportunity in the 18th minute when Ephron Mason-Clark's low angled shot was comfortably saved by Jamie Cumming.
The best chance of the first half fell to Oxford's captain Elliott Moore, who directed a header over the bar from Joe Bennett's corner.
In the second half, the U's broke the deadlock nine minutes into the second half as Cameron Brannagan headed back Josh Murphy's corner for Moore to nod in from close range.
Despite reacting to falling behind by pushing Oxford deeper and dominating possession in the latter stages of the game, Posh couldn't find an equaliser.
Des Buckingham's side will take a slender advantage to the second leg, scheduled for Wednesday at Peterborough's Weston Homes Stadium.
