Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly set to lock horns in the transfer market this summer over signing RB Leipzig striker Lois Openda.
The 24-year-old Belgian has been outstanding for the Bundesliga club since joining them prior to the start of the season from Lens and the Reds and the Blues are both monitoring his progress closely.
With their big summer signing Christopher Nkunku injured for the majority of the current campaign, Chelsea have struggled in attack this season with playmaker Cole Palmer their top scorer at present with 10 goals in the Premier League.
Openda fits the profile of a genuine number nine and Chelsea may well pursue a move for the striker, as might Liverpool - especially if their talisman Mohamed Salah left the club at the end of the season. Salah has consistently been linked with a mega-money move to the Saudi Pro League.
In total, Openda has hit 21 goals and supplied four assists for Leipzig this season, although he was unable to prevent the German club crashing out of the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid midweek.
