Early Palace barrage blows West Ham away

Crystal Palace hammered home four goals in the opening 31 minutes as they recorded a comprehensive victory over a hapless West Ham at Selhurst Park on Sunday. 

Eagles winger Michael Olise was first on the scoresheet when he headed home Joachim Andersen's lofted ball forward. 

The Londoners were 2-0 up soon afterwards when playmaker Eberechi Eze scored a sensational bicycle kick from close range and an own goal from Emerson Palmieri the Hammers put Palace three goals to the good. 

Olise then turned provider, as he crossed for Jean-Philippe Mateta to sidefoot home to make it 4-0. 

West Ham's Michail Antonio toed a shot past home goalkeeper Dean Henderson to grab one back, but Oliver Glasner's Palace continued to dominate after the interval and Mateta notched again to make it 5-1. 

A late Tyrick Mitchell own goal took a little of the wind out of the sails of the hosts, but the Eagles will still be delighted after an emphatic win that lifted them above Brentford into 14th position in the Premier League. 

West Ham, meanwhile, remain 8th having missed the opportunity to hurdle FA Cup semi-finalists Manchester United in the table.
