Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Kyle Walker may be able to feature for his side against Real Madrid in the second-leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie on Wednesday evening.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has said that Walker ‘feels much better’ and ‘maybe he can help’ against Los Blancos this week.

However, Guardiola maintained caution over the England international: “But I don’t want to lose him for a long time. We will decide in the next few days.”

The 33-year-old defender, who has been capped 82 times for the Three Lions, suffered a hamstring injury during the March international break early on in a goalless draw against Brazil at Wembley Stadium.

He has been unavailable for the Cityzens, who are trying to win a second successive treble, ever since but the former Tottenham Hotspur man could well be returning early at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.

City returned to the top-of-the-table at the weekend after a 5-1 defeat of Luton Town the day before both Arsenal and Liverpool suffered surprise home defeats to Aston Villa and Crystal Palace respectively.

They have an FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea on Saturday evening and head into the second-leg against Real Madrid after a 3-3 draw at the Bernabeu last week.

As a football fan, I am hopeful that Kyle Walker will be able to play against Real Madrid. It's great news that he's feeling better and could possibly help the team. However, we should be cautious and not rush his return as we don't want to risk losing him for a longer period of time. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery!

Great news for City! Walker back in the squad against Madrid. Hope he doesn't push too hard and risk further injury.
